Today we begin the Sacred Triduum.
This is without a doubt the highest celebration of the liturgical year.
The Triduum begins with the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Maundy Thursday and concludes with the Easter Vigil on Saturday night.
Why is Holy Thursday known as Maundy Thursday?
The word Maundy comes from the Latin, mandatum, or command, which refers to the instructions Jesus gave his disciples at the Last Supper.
At the Last Supper, Jesus commanded that people should love one another, and then washed the feet of his disciples as an act of kindness.
Please join us this evening for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7pm at St Augustin Church.
